Spring is here & the weather is starting to finally warm, trees are blooming and birds are chirping!
Now, is your Air Conditioner Ready for the heat? Often, Cooling issues are the cause of a simple, switch being in the wrong position or need of a filter change. We have a list of simple things that you can try yourself before calling in the McBee Man. Of Course, annual checkups and servicing by a qualified technician do keep these simple things in check and also extend the life of your Furnace and Air Conditioner.

Air Conditioner will not come on at all.

1. Check your thermostat is on "cool" position, the temperature is set to the correct temp. setting, and your fan switch is set to "Auto"
2. Reset electrical circuit breakers - on or around the indoor unit or in the home's main electrical panel
3. Check the filter access door. If this door is ajar the safety switch will not connect and your system will automatically shut off.

System is on and Running but not cooling.

1. Check your thermostat is on "cool" position, the temperature is set to the correct temp. setting, and your fan switch is set to "Auto"
2. Reset electrical circuit breakers - on or around the indoor unit or in the home's main electrical panel
3. Check your air filter, if the filter is clogged, air will not flow and freeze your air evaporator coil. Replace your air filter at least bimonthly.

System is running continuously, cooling but will not turn off.

1. Check your thermostat first to be sure it is on the correct temperature. If so, the contacts may be stuck, or wires may be crossed. Call a professional to correct this issue.

Indoor Fan not shutting off, system is still cooling correctly.

1. Make sure the "Fan On - Auto - Off " switch is in the "Auto" Position.

Higher electric bills

1. Check air filters. Replace if clogged, dirty filters cause your system to strain to work and run longer.
2. Check your home for air leaks. Check windows and doors for poor weather stripping.
3. Replace window treatments ie: shades, blinds ect. to reduce direct sunlight.
4. Adjust your temperature settings. By slightly raising temperatures you can reduce system usage.

Caution: Do NOT remove protective covers from equipment. Injury or death from electric shock may occur. Please contact one of our trained professionals if you feel any of the above listed suggestions are beyond your skill level. We would be more than happy to help out!

Now is the time to think about your A/C. We will be in full swing of our Spring Service Checks starting on April 15th but you can always call and get your appointment scheduled before that! McBee Man Tip of the Week - 1/12/11
This week we are helping Tulsa keep their thermostats set and ready for the winter winds! Yes it has been really cold and the McBee Heat and Air guys want you to know the advantages of using a digital thermostat -vs- using a mercury thermostat.
Here we go!

First we have a photo of the Mercury Thermostat.... I think most everyone has seen one of these or actually still has one in their home. This thermostat will keep you warm or cool depending on the time of year, but you are limited as to what you can do with it. If you want to change the temperature you just push the lever across the top to set it. Simple... yes... Effective... yes BUT you may want more control.... So for those of us who like to have options....
We have the Digital Thermostats!

This is a Trane Digital Thermostat. Pretty cool isn't it?
This Digital thermostat can give you the ability to set a certain temperature during the day while you are at work, then have it programmed to change to a more comfortable temperature 30 min before you get home! This not only saves energy and is good for the environment but save you money too! There are lots of good reasons to use a Trane Digital Thermostat but here is a list of the top 5 on my list!
1. More Accurate temperature readings.
2. 5 min delay on temperature adjustments saves your compressor!!
3. Up to Four Temperature Settings a day, so you can have your home temperature set according to you being home or not. Pretty Neat!
